2014 NICA Awards – Now Accepting Nominations
Established in 2010, the NICA Awards annually honors individual student-athletes, coaches, volunteers and partners that have made outstanding contributions toward the development of high school cycling and the national high school mountain biking movement. NICA is now accepting nominations for 2014 NICA Awards and the deadline for nominations is November 15, 2014.
The 2014 award categories include:

Specialized Student-Athlete Leadership Award – (2 recipients, Overall Boy and Girl, any league)

Trek All Star Student-Athlete Award – (2 recipients, Overall Boy and Girl, any league)

Camelbak Distinguished Alumni Award – (1 recipient, any league alumni)

GU Energy Extraordinary Courage Award – (2 recipients, Overall Boy and Girl, any league)
-
International Mountain Bike Association Teen Trail Corps Award – (1 recipient, any league)
-
SRAM Coach of the Year Award – (up to 2 recipients, any league)
-
Clif Bar and Company Volunteer Service Award – (up to 2 recipients, any league)

Quality Bicycle Products Community Impact Award – (1 recipient, any league)

Primal Wear Race Production Partner Award – (1 recipient, any league)
-
Easton Foundations League Founders Award – (1 recipient, any league)

NICA Legacy Award – (1 recipient)

Do you know someone that has made an impact on high school mountain biking and deserves to be recognized at the 2014 NICA Awards? Nominate them today! Just fill out this brief questionnaire about why that person should get an award. You can view last year’s awards recipients by visiting the NICA Awards page. Please be as descriptive as possible when describing who the individual is worthy of the award.
Recipients will be drawn from all NICA leagues racing in 2014: NorCal, SoCal, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Utah, New York, Arizona and Tennessee. Partial travel scholarships will be made available to ensure attendance of award recipients who will be notified in early December.
The 2014 NICA Awards Banquet is planned for January 25, 2014 at yet to be determined location. We are excited that Jeremiah Bishop will be our guest of honor. Jeremiah is 14-time member of the USA Cycling National Team and on eight occasions, Jeremiah has lead the US National Team, producing the team’s highest achievement of the competition, including his gold medal winning performance in the 2003 Pan American Games and his eighth place finish at the 2006 World Championships, which remains tied as the highest placing of a US male at World Championships in over 15 years. In recent years, Jeremiah has emerged as the country’s leading endurance mountain bike racer. He is the most-winning US mountain bike stage racer, with 12 consecutive victories in all of the major US mountain bike stage races including The American Mountain Classic, Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race, Trans-Sylvania Epic Mountain Bike Stage Race, and the Breck Epic.
