We are pleased to announce the third annual NICA Awards to recognize and celebrate NICA’s outstanding student athletes, dedicated coaches, and passionate volunteer community that support the high school mountain biking revolution. This year NICA will be honoring 13 individuals in 10 different award categories.

Benefit Ride

The festivities will begin with an optional guided mountain bike ride with Specialized factory rider and guest host, Lea Davison. Meeting 10:00 am at Fort Ord’s Creekside trailhead, there will be bagels, orange juice, and coffee before a 10:45 am rider meeting and groups rolling out at 11:00 am. The ride includes beginner-advanced route options and features epic flowing singletrack at the renouned Fort Ord trail system and a catered trailside lunch. The Specialized Demo Crew will have the 2013 fleet of demo bikes available on a first come first serve basis by signing up on this form. For more information on Fort Ord and directions to the trailhead visit this link. We welcome you to register for the ride whether you are attending the evening or not.

The NICA Awards Banquet will get underway at 5:00 pm. Event host Specialized Bicycle Components will open the doors to their world headquarters in Morgan Hill, California for a behind-the-scenes tour of their one of the worlds largest bicycle manufacturers. The ”rolling” format dinner will be paired with the finest wines and beers from the CLIF Family Winery & Farm and New Belgium Brewing. The evening culminates with the multi-media awards presentation in Specialized’s state-of-the-art theatre. To cap the evening off, Lea Davison will share an inspiring presentation chronicling her incredible cycling career and efforts to support youth development.

For those registering to attend both the Benefit Ride and the Awards Banquet, the Specialized lockers rooms and showers will be available for participants after the ride.

NICA Booster Fund

The NICA Booster Fund is a new national program focused on increasing the participation of individual student-athletes, teams, and coaches from underrepresented areas and disadvantaged backgrounds in NICA high school mountain biking leagues.

The Fund provides direct support, through individual micro-grants, to offset expenses directly related to participation in NICA league and team activities. By covering these expenses, the fund also provides indirect support for NICA leagues, and helps to ensure the sustainable development and funding of league staff, programs and activities, by actively assisting in the expansion of league ridership.
